Make sure you let it charge at least 16 hrs or up to 72 hrs. Then hold down the spot and dock buttons at the same time until you hear a reset tone. see if that helps

sounds like you just got a lemon. Give another a try and this model should work fine for you,even with a dog. Keeping it clean is the key. if you read this forum, you will see lots of great tips and hints on cleaning. It beats running your on vacuum though.

You may also have a defective home base. Try plugging the charger directly into the Roomba. Also check your front wheel and make sure it spins freely.
